Agnes

Agnes winery was founded in 1960 by Luigi and Alberto Agnes in Rovescala, land of Croatina grapes. In fact, the Agnes, who call themselves "producers of an unmistakable Bonarda", producing almost exclusively based wines with Croatina, improved this grape that over time better adapted to the area. As evidenced by numerous documents of the past, Rovescala has always been the area of Bonarda. Among the various testimonies, one deserves to be remembered: it is a deed of 1192, preserved in the State of Milan, where, in settlement of a debt, the three feudal lords Lombard ask the Count Anselmo Rovescala not refund money, but the supply of 600 congi (20 hectoliters) " de puro vino suarum vinearum de Rovoscalla, de meliori quod habuerit super locum". The great merit of Luigi and Alberto Agnes was to have acquired over time, the most suitable areas for the production of quality wines. Thanks to the extraordinary variety of the land purchased, which only a few meters away from clayey-calcareous become calcareous-tufa, the Agnes brothers may decline Croatina in many different ways, getting Bonarda profoundly different. Optimal representation of this category is the Cresta del Ghiffi, a Bonarda absolutely harmonious and pleasant.
