Elio Altare winery was born in 1948 by the will of Giuseppe Altare, who bought an estate of about five acres in La Morra. The early years were not easy, and the crisis of the '70s forced the family Altare to review their strategies. So, in 1976, Elio Altare, grandson of Giuseppe, went to Burgundy, in an attempt to know and better understand the latest techniques to make wine.
