Bosco del Merlo

Bosco del Merlo is a family-run winery located between the eastern Veneto and Friuli regions that produces traditional wines of excellence. Founded by Valentino Paladin in 1962, today it is managed by Carlo, Lucia and Roberto, who have been able to bring new inspiration and energy to the winery, utilising the most advanced technologies.

The vineyard covers almost 100 hectares between the ancient Via Annia and Via Postumia, two consular roads that date back to the first few centuries BC. The vines are cultivated on soil rich in caranto, which is composed of clay and silt typical of the lagoon, and enjoy a microclimate with good temperature fluctuations. This favours the concentration of aromas in the grapes and consequently in the wines. The average age of the vines, which are trained to the spurred cordon system, is over 50 years.

The philosophy that guides the activities of the Bosco del Merlo winery is the pursuit of uncompromising quality while fully respecting the environment. The vineyard is managed following the principles of Reasoned Viticulture, which involves a more sensible use of pesticides and fertilisers. The cellar is committed to a regular reduction of added sulphites with the objective of achieving a sulphur dioxide level of less than 50% of the legal limits. The wines of Bosco del Merlo possess a distinct personality, characterised by structure, complexity and elegance.
