Chateau Le Puy

Chateau Le Puy

This winery has such an ancient origin that it has been reported also in 1610. Chateau Le Puy has always been managed by Amoreau family and every generation, accumulating knowledge and experience of the generations that preceded it, it has always made something new, remaining absolutely faithful to the traditions of the family and respect for the terroir.

In 1921 Jean adopts the egrappage, the meticulous removal of all the stalks, to get a wine without flavors of herbs or bitters; in 1934 Robert returns to the process of wine production to its original form of the "chapeau immergé" or "forced extraction".

In 1990 Jean-Pierre and Pascal Amoreau begin producing a wine without added sulfites, and this requires a very strict selection of grapes, not to mention the individual grapes, and aging in barrels for at least 24 months without addition of sulfur dioxide, then accrued "battonage" according to a precise calendar based on the cycles of the moon.

All the vineyards of the Chateau are systems that have more than 50 years and for some time the plants are grown organically and bio-dynamically. Bordeaux "Duc des Nauves" is an especially intense and fruity red, from a wise blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc: must-try.
