The production history of the Busso family, since 1953 owner of the homonymous wine farm situated among the verdant hills of Neive, is inextricably linked to the cultivation of Nebbiolo, in small crus with an inestimable qualitative potential for the Barbaresco production. The distinctive care in the vineyards selection to ensure a unique and interactive relationship between terroir and grape variety, combined with a viticulture featuring a respectful understanding of soil, plant and environment, make every facet of Barbaresco Busso an authentic expression of the complex territorial biodiversity that characterizes the beautiful places of origin: year after year, each hill shows its typical sides, thanks to the help of "silent wine-making techniques" far away from the industrial logic, without any recourse to chemical shortcuts or technological excesses. This vision of Barbaresco followed by Busso, highly rigorous at every stage of the production chain, recalls the atmosphere of Burgundy, where each test by the vigneron is measured on a very wide knowledge of the complex set of factors, from the terroir to the milieu, which characterizes the vineyard and that lends itself more to synthetic considerations than to analytical ones. Only such a framework would enable the creation of Barbaresco Mondino, from a selection of the best grapes in the cru Balluri of Neive: just over one hectare of land, situated at an optimal altitude and sun exposure, with vines that seem pretty gardens, planted almost half a century ago. From this unique location was created a Barbaresco which is possible to define "classic", for the traditional line taken during the wine making: long maceration with frequent punch downs to enhance the extraction of fundamental polyphenolic components, a slow aging in large oak barrels to allow a right aromatic complexification, a further refinement in the bottle for prolonging the evolution time of the wine. For all these reasons, we are certain of a clear idea: Barbaresco Mondino by Piero Busso is a mandatory step to understand the most espressive side of this classical Langhe wine.
